1st National Chrysler Rally - Young NSW
2nd-4th October, 1976

The inaugural National Rally of the Chrysler Restorers Club, held over the October long weekend in 1976 at Young, New South Wales, proved to be a resounding success. The Young Veteran, Vintage and Post Vintage Motor Club served as gracious hosts, welcoming over sixty classic Chrysler vehicles and their enthusiastic owners.

The local media had generated significant pre-event anticipation for the influx of these vintage automobiles. Rally participants were treated to a formal welcome on Saturday afternoon, featuring a parade of all participating vehicles followed by a welcoming barbeque function. Sunday's program included a well-organised run to Grenfell for morning tea, continuing on to Greenthorpe for lunch. The afternoon offered a tour of the prestigious Landra Castle. The Rally culminated in a formal presentation dinner on Sunday evening, where fourteen trophies were presented to deserving participants, courtesy of generous sponsors and club members.

On Monday morning, the rally participants embarked on a journey to the orchard district, where they enjoyed a tour of Granger's Prune Factory before departing for their home destinations. As the first National Rally, there was a natural sense of anticipation regarding the event's execution. However, by all accounts, the Rally was a triumph. Participants commended the meticulous organisation by the Young Club and expressed their appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the local community. The event fostered a spirit of camaraderie, providing a platform for established friends to reconnect and for new friendships to be forged.

2nd National Chrysler Rally - Narrabri NSW
27th August - 3rd September, 1980

The Chrysler Restorers Club's Second National Rally commenced on 27th August, 1980, in Narrabri, New South Wales. Meticulous planning for the event began eighteen months prior, spearheaded by Phil Gander and ably continued by Dick Breese and his committee. The Narrabri arrangements were entrusted to Bernie Hayter and the Namoi Valley Antique Vehicle Club members. The rally attracted a diverse range of participants, with entries travelling from as far north as Ayr in Queensland and as far south as Rutherglen in Victoria. A remarkable display of Chrysler automobiles was presented, encompassing vehicles from a 1916 Dodge Tourer to a more contemporary 1963 Valiant two-door model. Impressively, all but one car journeyed to and from Narrabri under its own power.

The event was a resounding triumph, garnering significant media coverage on television stations across regional New South Wales and even Sydney, both during and after the rally. The exhilaration experienced by participants was palpable, leaving many with a sense of the event ending prematurely. For one member, the rally held a particularly special significance; a serendipitous encounter led to his marriage to a local Narrabri woman some five months later.
